Two Minute Tales - Stories from home

30th Apr 2020

Two Minute Tales, BBC Northern Ireland’s short story competition for children is back!

Children from all across Northern Ireland have a chance to have their wonderful short stories brought to life on BBC Radio Ulster… or even made into their very own animation!
We want children aged between 5 – 16 to write a short story of no more than 300 words based on the theme ‘Home’.

This competition will celebrate imagination and creativity - not spelling and grammar. So pupils of all abilities are invited to enter.

Entries will be split into three age categories, 5 – 8, 9 - 13 and 14 -16. Nine stories will be shortlisted, three in each age category. All shortlisted stories will be voiced by an actor and will be broadcast on BBC Radio Ulster later this year.

The top story in each category will be turned into an animation and featured across the BBC. The runners-up in each category will receive a specially commissioned illustration of a scene from their story.

Due to the current environment we can’t accept bulk submissions from schools via post.

Parents/guardians must agree to the terms and conditions of this competition and upload the stories directly via the Two Minute Tales website.

We can’t wait to read your pupil’s Two Minute Tales!
