Libraries NI have announced details of this year’s Big Summer Read which will take place from Monday 1st July until Saturday 31st August in every Library throughout NI including our very own library here in Strabane! This annual Reading Initiative is a FREE Programme offering fun and interactive ways to keep children and teens reading during the Summer Holidays. It’s a great way to address the "Summer Slide", a decline in children’s reading skills and comprehension that occurs if they are not engaged with reading or activities over the Summer Months.This year’s theme is "Slide into Summer Reading" as well as encouraging children to read as many books as possible. There will be a programme of exciting events and free activities linked to all sorts of adventures! Children who take part will receive a certificate at the end of the Summer.
