Anti Bullying Week 12th November – 16th November
This year the theme is “Choose Respect”. Respect is a value we promote in our school at every opportunity! Respect is mutual between us all, pupils, staff, parents and community. Anti Bullying Week is a great week to get involved in focusing on promoting mutual respect and showing kindness and care towards each other. Our PATHS Programme in school promotes a culture of mutual respect, kindness, understanding, empathy and
resilience skills.
On this week we will promote understanding of
• the definition of Respect
• that bullying is a behaviour choice
• that we can RESPECTFULLY disagree with each other, that ,
we don’t have to be best friends or always agree with each other but
we do have to respect each other
• that we all need to choose to respect each other both face to face and online
We will have Scallywags Puppet Theatre Show for our Junior School Pupils and our Senior School Pupils to highlight the impact of bullying behaviours and to promote positive choices instead! Peer pressure will be discussed and the need to promote the idea that being an individual who makes good choices is so COOL!
We will also have Internet Safety Workshops for our children to help promote online safety and acceptable behaviour which promotes respect.
Our school council will meet for the first time as a group in school to discuss key priorities in our school and how we can continue to promote a culture of respect, fairness and positivity. We also have a Parent Workshop (given by Parenting NI ) to support Parents who are faced with a child who has been the victim of bullying behaviour or has been engaging in bullying behaviour. This is a very worthwhile workshop indeed. Please come along and join us if you can.....parents, pupils and school working together is the best way forward!
Let’s choose RESPECT and go forward together!!
