Keeping Fit and Helping Others Fun Fitness Event

7th Oct 2018

As you may be aware, Funding opportunities for ourselves and many other groups is being greatly reduced
or even cut altogether. Mrs Daljeet Guram and Strabane Ethnic Community Association have been coming in to our school for many years in order to educate our children on the Indian Culture and explain the true meaning of the Diwali Festival. This has been such a fabulous experience for our children every year. The programme is totally multicultural and filled with fun, education and dance as part of the delivery. This has always been
given at absolutely NO COST to the school or our children. This year Strabane Ethnic Community have informed us that their funding has been greatly reduced. Despite this they are still running the fantastic Diwali Programme in school and will have the Diwali Celebration St. Patrick’s Hall on Thursday 25th October, Our children love their multicultural Diwali Programme and it was felt that it would be a good idea to try to raise some funds for Strabane Ethnic Community to say a great big thank you for years of service to our school.
We will also make a donation to FPIES UK in support of children with Food Allergies. We have several children in school who have Food Allergies. FPIES UK supports and advises families dealing with a specific food protein
induced enterocolitis syndrome Joe’s Body Works Team will come in to school to complete the Fun Event with
our children. We are truly grateful for the support of Joe and his team. To this end, we are organising a fun
sports session in school called “Keeping Fit and Helping Others! which will take place in school on Wednesday 17th , Thursday 18th and Friday 19th October. This will involve every child in the school from Nursery to Year 7! Each child will receive a sponsor sheet to be sponsored to take part in this exciting Physical Fitness Event.
We have organised sponsored events like this before in school and the children thoroughly enjoy them!
Your child will receive a sponsor sheet this week for the event. We would appreciate it if each child gets as many sponsors as they can from family and friends for this event. All money raised (no matter how much or
how little) will go towards Strabane Ethnic Community Association and FPIES UK in support of children with Food Allergies. We would appreciate it if all sponsor sheets and money could be returned to school by Monday 22nd October. We thank you in advance for your ongoing support for our wee school and pupils!
If your child did not receive a sponsor form please ask the class teacher!
